Weekend Blues :

Went around on a virtual round of blogs across the globe. Personal Journals have increased exponentially and there are some real quality creative writing up there that are missing in the .com sites. Some of the TEEN sites are still the best looked at for they have a good marketability (cheap too) on the content. A teen site has had 2 lakh hits since Jan'02 , can you imagine that for your blog ?

An interesting article gave insight into the diff between a journal and a weblog. find it here.

Weekend's back and I am gonna hide between bedsheets and listen some good quality Metallica and some harcore 60's jazz or Dave Mathews Band. If not I always have EMINEM to save me....The real slim shady...

Desperate Haikku :
It's gone out of hand, the spec and span in my room was lost long back and I suddenly realized it y'day. Everything is in it's own place and shape. This weekend probably....I thought, I should clean them. And thats what the I am capable of, procastinating !!!

My boss commented that my new look of the page has a very formal look instead of setting a creative mood. Well, thats a good cue for me. Thinking
wrote a haikku on the way to my office, actually it should have been on my way back . Thats what you mean by a ironical haikku !!

after a tiring day
full of empty cubicles
computer and me, still

The new feel of the blog is ready and i am making some minor corrections. It's already midnight and i need to catch up with some sleep. After posting this I am gonna take a 'U' turn and jump flat on my bed. aawwhh !!! Comment and suggest on the new feel of this page.

I am very excited about the new look. It is pretty elegant look with the dirty green header. I just love it. I think a new design once in a couple of months energizes us. Probably you, fellow bloggers can try this. I'm sure you will experience a sense of satisfaction when it shapes up to your expectation.

Polarized Politicians & Our Nuclear-Neighbor :

The Gujarat issue has racked India by its roots. After getting the proofs about Pakistan's involvement in gujarat's continuing riots our PM became more fatalistic. Gujarat issue is a part of Pakistan’s strategy to create an internal war while it will use its terrorists to intrude into India and demolish it once for all. I have hope that this wouldn't be allowed for we have our central government making arrangements in our Line-of-control.

The point I am getting frustrated is that our politicians actually spoil the whole show. They are extremely polarized about any issue. Either they are for an issue or they are against an issue. If the ruling party is supporing an issue all the guys in the opposition party are against or vice versa. This isn't a situation for a democracy. We can't certainly boast ourselves to be the largest democracy in the world. Democracy is all about being non-polarized and to reconcile on issues rather than blocking someone from doing something.

If you would have watched the Clinton's trial in CNN, you would have see the manner in which the parliament was conducted. In the beginning, every speaker was given the number of minutes he can voice his opinion. Lets say if someone is given 20 minutes, he spoke for 20 minutes or less than that and if he spoke less than the time given to him, he recommends someone who can talk for the remaining time. More than an a discipline, it is a culture there. Here in India, if we have 20 points to speak, finally at the end of the question hour the assembly is adjourned due to some reason or other and only very few issues are discussed which leads to a heap of piled up issues, unanswered!

So our whole way of politics is spoiling someone else from doing what he intends to do. Now that last week the parliament took an unanimous decision on the stand against Pakistan, the next hurdle will come in the form of the debate which may ask " Should India wage a war against Pakistan at this point of time when there is a lot of internal disturbances like gujarat?" . The politicians need to u'stand and act in the interests of people and not in their interests of their party.

Pakistan's motive is a lot cleverer. They need a small war to be staged, which makes America more legitimate to broker between both the countries thereby influencing America as a mouthpiece for Pakistan.

This is the time that we as a countrymen need to be together to fight against the wrath of our nuclear-neighbor. Lets us hope for a No-War situation but for that friends, roman & countrymen, lets first UNITE!!!

The bigscreen spider
Is that true?. It is unbelievable. Columbia's action-adventure sci-fi fantasy Spider-Man leaped into first place with an unprecedented ESTIMATED $114.0 million at 3,615 theaters and 7,500-plus screens ($31,535 per theater). OOPS !!! That big money and it has broken all the Box Office Records before. I couldn't wait anymore for 24th May whem it opens up in indian theatres.

The Producers said "It's the biggest opening weekend--either three or four days. It's the biggest single day, which was our Saturday, which we're estimating at $43.7 million. It's the biggest single day by over $10 million, beating Harry Potter's Saturday of $33.5 million. It's the fastest to $100 million in three days (beating the five days it took Harry Potter). It's the highest per screen average in 3,000 prints or more with $31,535."

Maddy in the run :
You remember watching Sea Hawks in DD2 those days when satellite channels had just begun to engulf mainstream entertainment. It was he who made people watch the serial without blinking. Then he made tamil girls drool over with his powerful looks and versatile acting in Maniratnam's Alai Payuthey. This is movie now being remade in hindi as Saathiya *ing Vivek Oberoi. After 2 years of the release of his debut film in tamil, maddy is still drool-over in tamil nadu. His Minnale (RHTDM in hindi) was a super dupper hit and his next film with mani's Kannathil Muthamittal added credits to his acting skills.

Now Madhavan is signed up for a thriller movie called Run and also his next movie Anbe Sivam ( Shiva is Love) with Kamalhassan. Maybe we are yet to witness the pinnacle of Maddy's acting. Heard that he is also performing as a rowdy rowdy piper role in a hindi movie for which he has sported a french beard. I told you know...Maddy is in the run.

Last night I watched Black Hawk Down, the oscar nominated movie. This was a true story about a ground battle involving the american army soldiers. In 1993, the american army wanted to abduct 2 lieutinants of the somalian warlord Farah Aidid and they intruded into a small village called Mogadishu. The US army's intial plans gets interuppted when two of the black hawk helicopters are shot down. The time moves on and it takes more than 15 hours to complete the operation.

The movie is potrayed with an eye for detail. The war photography is too good that we feel like witnessing the war in the streets of Mogadishu. The camera and the sets make the movie seem true. This has a very less storyline than other war movies. It is war commentary and there is no analysis on the war or its after effects which makes it as a movie of rare genre. Ridley Scott dispassionate approach towarads the movie makes it an interesting see. His approach has a classy touch. He shows war as war rather than taking a emotional dimension which leaves it for the viewer to decide his idea on war.

A pretty ok movie for a dull night!!!

Codelust's link on god blogging made me think a lot. good one .

Ian McEwan amazes me with his absorbing insight into people's minds. My boss recommends me to read McEwan's best book The child in time.Thats my next catch.

Sujatha - one of the best writers in contemporary tamil literature is signed up for a movie with K.Balachander to write the dialogues. He was paid close to 10 lakhs for film. This is a promising news for writers in tamil film scenario. His latest films Mudhalvan and Kannathil Muthamittal earned him this fame. As a matter of fact, Roja was his story which was earlier published as a novel named as '14 days' in tamil. I need pages to write about sujatha's writing style. If you need to get an hang on his writing, just ready his book called guruprasadin kadaisi thinam ( the last day of guru prasad).

Crazy Again:

I do aspire to become kushwant singh or shobha de . But this isn't acceptable. I was reading the whole lot of my blog today and i just got bugged up. I seem to have transcended into the world of a columnist because offlate I am writing some kind of an analytical blog on silly things.I finally found a reason for that. Just realised I have been doing a bit of advertising of my blog these days in all the yahoo groups that i belong to. So probably I am also going thru a bit of famous-o-mania these days and therefore I have been writing impressive articles for others. They aren't that impressive for me when i read it now. On second thoughts, may be I am right. Is it wrong in getting caught in the famous-o-mania if u get the purpose right. So guys, for you kind info, my instinct tells me i wouldn't change even after all these inner shouts to myself. Some of you who read this blognote first might not u'stand the note. Go ahead and read more, probably you will (hey lazy, thats advertising again).

But I am lucky this weekend. Just got my hand over an interesting book called Enduring Love by Ian McEwan. Amazing start!! just like a nail bitting finish. Oops!! this guy is really great.

It is 9:15 now and I wanna go back home now to see sachin back in action after a duck in the previous innings. I have no clue of what the score is but i can have a blind bet that he is gonna smash the windies this time. Hope he does. Yeh Dil Maange More!!

She's Back ( From Tihar)

Hey, Arundhati is back . If you are blinking now, you probably have not read her God Of Small Things or you didn't frequent the news some 3 months back. She is Arundhati Roy. The booker prize winner for her debut novel. You would certainly appreciate her if you read that book for its vivid descriptions and the style of her writing.

Then, she was an avid supporter of NBA ( Narmada Bajao Aandolan not National Basketball Association ) and a die-hard fan for the purpose of saving thousands of people getting washed out if that narmada dam was built. An essay on anti-dam on narmada called The Greater Common Good was fabulous.

After allowing herself to stay in the thiar prison for one day, in the contempt of court case, she is now back on questioning the happenings in Gujarat. The article called Democracy :Who's she when she's at home? in Outlook magazine. Read it !! Feel It !! You'll agree with me that she is true.

Kamal - The Versatile Genius in doldrums:

Offlate Kamal, the versatile actor has been caught amidst a storm of gossips on his personal life. The media has gone to rock bottom level to write about his personal life based on assumptions and hearsay. This is not a healthy atmosphere. These scoops and gossips have been there since media originated but there were yellow magazines which used to write on these issues. Now, the scene is even bad. Kumudham, which was rated to be 2nd best magazine in Tamil was the first one to write a cover story on this KamalHassan's personal issue.

I think we need to leave the personal issues apart and able to distinguish a person by his proffession. Instead, people are bothered more about personal issues. The most asked question in any Q&A section of any magazine is "Is Kamal going to divorce Sarika and is he going to marry Simran?". After a long pause, Kamalhassan had finally met the press a day before and answered them partly saying the divorce with Sarika is true. Now that isn't a end for this media and they are going to write long exaggerated behind-the-scenes stories based on this.

Please leave kamal and his family alone. Let us criticize only his acting . Else we will probably miss one of the great artisits of this country.

Who let these DOGS out :
I travel from my house located at the heart of chennai to a suburb called Tambaram for my office everyday which is some 20 Kms away. These days IT Companies are moving out of the Cities to establish their kingdoms where there is abundant suplly of water and other neccesities.

But the point isn't that. The road through which I travel is called GST road which is a national highway.Since I travel in my bike , I have a chance to look at the world clearly, unlike those who travel in caged cars. Everyday with no exception, I see atleast 2 dogs die in the middle of the road, hit and run over by a lorry or by a car travlling at 90 Kms/hr. And sometimes till the next day, the dead body of the dog still lies there being run over by several hundreds of vehicles that pass by. Once or twice I had called up the Blue Cross to report this. I am unaware of the action which they had taken after that.

Today when I was on my way, a dog escaped death from a lorry by a few nano seconds. Whats the point?. There are still enough vehices in chennai to kill that poor dog. huh!!.
